ESG Coordinator

Komatsu is the 2nd largest worldwide manufacturer of construction, mining and utility equipment, and also delivers forest machines and logistics.

At this moment Komatsu is looking for an ESG Coordinator.  

ESG Coordinator 


1. ESG Compliance and implementation project – 80%:

Under supervision of the IA Manager lead the implementation of the ESG compliance requirements for the KEISA group. This project will cover

  • the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD);
  • the EU Due Diligence Directive; 
  • local transpositions of these directives and other related legislation (European taxonomy,….). 

These legislations cover environmental, social and governance requirements.

The ESG Coordinator will 

  • Take the lead of this implementation project across the European entities. As such strong project management skills are essential.;
  • Keep up to date on the related legal requirements and guidance. Develop a thorough understanding and vision on its implementation and requirements; 
  • Discuss, communicate & educate management on the requirements; 
  • Develop the required policies, procedures and controls for all European entities; 
  • Develop the required due diligence processes towards suppliers; 
  • Develop the required corporate sustainability reporting; 
  • Align and standardize the policies, procedures and controls with the management of the European entities and corporate headquarters. 
  • Follow-up on the implementation across the European entities.

2. Compliance – 10%

The person:

  • Assists the IA Manager in all compliance requirements assigned;
  • Analyzes the current compliance status;
  • Helps in reaching the required compliance status and follows-up the remediation.

3. Internal Control/SOX -10%

  • The person performs the testing for SOX compliance in Europe & Belgium for the assigned processes & entities, under the instruction of the Audit Lead. This also includes communication & coordination with the various process owners.
  • The person assists in performing internal audits (non-SOX) as per the yearly internal audit plan. This can include compliance, financial and operational audits. This will cover the complete audit process: from scoping over defining the audit plan, testing and communication to final report and remediation follow-up.
  • Departmental administrative tasks are performed as assigned. 

The function includes travel (max. 35 %).


  • Degree in Economics, Finance or Trade Engineering
  • A first successful experience in ESG compliance, Audit or related functions (3 to 5 years)
  • Basic knowledge of USGAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of ESG (incl. CSRD and due diligence directive) is an asset. Strong interest is required.
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks, incl. SOX, is an asset
  • Good Excel knowledge
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Able to read up on new topics and become subject matter in those topics
  • Languages: English, other languages are definite assets (Dutch, German, French, Italian)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and persuasion skills
