Financial Analyst

Komatsu is the 2nd largest worldwide manufacturer of construction, mining  and utility equipment, and also delivers forest machines and logistics.

Financial Analyst

Responsibilities:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for

Contribution to Belgian entities budgeting/forecasting/actual reporting

  • Prepares in the budget/forecast process the inputs sheet for all departments;
  • Aggregates in the budget/forecast process the inputs from all departments & business units for overall reporting Belgium;
  • Keeps departments informed on approved budget/forecast amounts;
  • Performs monthly budget - actual follow-up and signals foreseeable budget overruns;
  • Assists in the preparation for the monthly/quarterly reporting in given templates towards Japan and European Head Quarters;

Central Entrepreneur

  • Day to day follow-up of all the sales / cos coming from the European plants and make sure all is properly booked in the BaaN ERP system and reconciles
  • Assists in the monthly closing, reconciliation, provision setup of all European plants related to Sales/COS;
  • Setup accrual/deferrals/incentives for CE and follow them up;
  • Follow-up on sales incentive spending and make comprehensive reporting to management

Fixed Assets Management

  • Assist in the budget preparation
  • Reviews if the requested fixed assets are in line with approved budgets and internal procedures
  • Checks completeness of the fixed asset file and processes all the fixed assets in the accounting ledger
  • Reconciles the fixed asset subledger with the ledger accounts

VAT/TAX

  • Assists in the preparation / reconciliation of the VAT & Tax returns
  • Assists in the customs document followup for all machines imported in Europe

Internal Control/SOX

Assist in testing the SOX compliance in Belgium for the processes & entities in scope, under the supervision of the IA Manager:

  • Assist the IA Manager in the internal control project management oversight to lead and assist the management of those entities to meet the Group’s objectives, working with business and process owners to ensure the timely completion of documentation and testing works
  • Perform test of designs and operating effectiveness in the various business processes in scope
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with the various process owners and management team on control issues, including monitoring progress of compliance and follow-up on remediation actions on identified SOX deficiencies
  • Reviewing existing documentation for changes in processes and identify opportunities to optimize/simplify the internal control environment of the different business unites and initiate cost effective processes

Other

  • Reviews the requested supplier creations versus the internal policy and creates them in the ERP system
  • Assists in ad hoc analysis

 

Profile Requirements:

  • University Degree in Applied Economics, Finance, etc..
  • Good knowledge of accounting and USGAAP, VAT / Tax
  • Knowledge of internal controls (incl. SOX) is an asset
  • MS Office Excel, reporting software (TM1, Board)
  • English, other languages are an asset (Dutch, German, French, Italian)
  • Able to plan own work in view of recurrent deadlines
  • Logical thinking, Analytical, structured & accurate, excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate leadership, able to work with all levels in an organization, proactive, hands-on, eager to learn
  • Committed to quality by continuously looking for ways to improve processes
