Operator Trainer

Komatsu is the 2nd largest worldwide manufacturer of construction, mining  and utility equipment, and also delivers forest machines and logistics.

Operator Trainer

The Operator Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering training programs aimed at employees operating Komatsu products. Training material, courses and classes offer training opportunities for internal Komatsu personnel, distribution personnel, end user customers. Ultimately, the objective is to offer high level product and operator training for the purpose of operating Komatsu equipment to improve customer’s safe operation, achieving higher productivity and efficiency with our products. Delivery of courses, materials and classes are offered in numerous venues and locations.

Areas of responsibility:

The Operator Trainer needs to be a subject matter expert responsible for determining training needs, developing and creating training courses/materials for training Komatsu, distributor and customer staff. To adhere to the department standards, style guides and requirements of protocol. 

He/She conducts required training courses in one of our factories in Hannover, Newcastle or Este as well as at customer sites Europe wide with a travelling ratio between 70%-80%. The Operator Trainer will also be responsible for the scheduling of resources and equipment to accommodate the training courses and will assist, collaborate and communicate with the training manager and departments as required.

The target of the trainings is the safe and proficient operation of Komatsu equipment for beginners. For experienced driver the aim is to increase their skills in effective operating techniques to maximise productivity and efficiency by lowering fuel usage employing a range of tools including RealDsp, KomEdge, Komtrax, Komtrax Plus. 
The candidate will also be asked to test machines in operation and provide feedback to Komatsu Service Engineers, development and the manufacturing plants on machine issues regarding and report recognized issues in the appropriate manner and with appropriate documentation necessary.

He/She will need to help the Marketing Communications department with operating machines during fairs and events both internal and external.
Responsibility to maintain personal qualifications/certifications required for the position and its responsibilities lies with the candidate.


  • Safe and proficient operation of heavy construction or mining equipment
  • PC skills to create and maintain training material
  • Able to teach and explain machine operation in front of a class and one to one
  • Able to listen and understand the operator’s feedback about the machine
  • Good people skills to build rapport with operator and customers as well as DB staff
  • Estimation of minimal experience needed: 5 – 10 years
