Komatsu UK Ltd operate with a global supply base, providing parts, services and equipment to our business. Our supply chain is managed by a Purchasing team who are committed to working with all of our business partners to ensure the highest standards of customer service and key performance measures are consistently achieved.  

We are now looking for an Apprentice to join our Purchasing Department.  You will work in a world class organisation that will continually develop your skills and knowledge and also provide an opportunity to build an exciting and rewarding career. 

Apprentice – Purchasing department

What will I do?

You will undertake on the job training in the Purchasing Department as well as gaining insight into administrative activities in other functions across the business. In conjunction with our external training provider TDR (Training and Development Resource Ltd) you will work to achieve your NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.  You will also complete a CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply.

During your apprenticeship you will:

  • Develop interpersonal skills, in particular Communication, Team Work, Responsibility, Motivation and Continuous improvement;
  • Understand how to work safely and the importance of following policies and procedures;
  • Have the opportunity to rotate within many individual functions of Procurement, developing skills and systems knowledge including Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Logistics, Negotiation and Vendor management;
  • Support the department with general administrative tasks such as orders, invoicing, reports and key performance indicators;
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of wider business administration work through assisting with administration work in other departments.

There will be the opportunity for permanent employment on successful completion of the Apprenticeship.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals with a keen interest in procurement and supply chain management, who are enthusiastic, reliable and have the willingness to learn within an office environment.  Candidates must have the ability to learn new software packages.  Good attendance and punctuality are essential.

Experience in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel, is essential as is good numeracy and accuracy.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of, or expect to attain, 4 GCSE’s grade 4-9 (C or above), to include Maths and English, or equivalent.
