Komatsu Europe to Request Customer Consent Under the EU Data Act
Publié le 13/10/2025

To comply with the EU Data Act, which entered into force on 12 September 2025, Komatsu Europe is reaching out to machine owners to request their explicit consent for the continued use of data generated by their connected Komatsu machines. This includes data collected through KOMTRAX, KOMTRAX Plus, and other connected services such as those offered by Smart Construction.

This outreach is a legal requirement, and your participation is essential to ensure that Komatsu can continue providing the digital services that support your operations every day. More importantly, we want to reassure you that any email you receive from us regarding this process is legitimate, secure, and sent directly by Komatsu Europe.

Why You Will Receive an Email From Us

Under the EU Data Act, every machine owner in the EU whose equipment exchanges data via IoT must explicitly agree to the Terms of Use related to that data. This applies to all machines on the EU market, regardless of where the company owning the machine is headquartered.

Komatsu is working closely with its distributors to collect accurate information and initiate direct communication with machine owners. We will send you a dedicated email explaining:

  • Why consent is required
  • How the process works
  • How Komatsu ensures your privacy and data security
  • What benefits you receive by allowing continued use of machine data

The sender email address of this message is: compliance_noreply@komatsumail.eu. This web site article aims to help you easily recognize the message as authentic and safe to interact with.

What the Consent Process Looks Like

Once you click the link in the email, you will be guided through a secure, user‑friendly authentication and validation flow, including:

  1. Secure login using your phone or email to receive a 4‑digit verification code.
  2. Company data confirmation, with the option to correct details if needed.
  3. Legal representative verification, ensuring the person who grants consent is authorized.
  4. Consent step, where the legal representative can approve continued use of telematics data and connected services by means of a digital signature.

If consent is granted: Komatsu and your distributor may continue to provide connected services.

If consent is refused: Komatsu may be legally required to deactivate KOMTRAX or other connected services on your machines.

Why Your Consent Matters: The Value of KOMTRAX and Connected Services

KOMTRAX is one of Komatsu’s most valuable digital tools. Its data provides insights that deliver real advantages to machine owners. By allowing Komatsu to continue using your machine data, you benefit from:

1. Reduced Downtime

KOMTRAX gives you peace of mind by spotting potential issues early. By continuously monitoring your machine’s key health indicators, KOMTRAX data can help prevent more severe damage to your machine that could occur if the issue would remain unnoticed.

2. Faster Troubleshooting

KOMTRAX provides remote diagnostics, helping technicians understand the issue before arriving onsite—often enabling a fix on the first visit.

3. Optimized Service Planning

Usage‑based hour and condition monitoring helps plan maintenance proactively, avoiding unexpected failures.

4. Improved Fleet Management

Machine location and utilization information allows better dispatching, monitoring, and resource allocation.

5. Enhanced Security

GPS‑based location data can support theft prevention and recovery efforts.

Our Commitment to Transparency and Data Protection

Komatsu Europe is fully committed to complying with the EU Data Act and ensuring transparent, responsible handling of machine‑generated data. This includes applying the same process in non‑EU countries where similar regulations are expected soon.

Thank You for Your Cooperation

Your consent allows us to continue delivering the digital tools that help you operate more efficiently, safely, and profitably. We appreciate your support as we work together to maintain compliance and protect the value of your connected Komatsu machines.

If you have any concerns or questions about the upcoming email or the consent process, please contact your Komatsu distributor.
