Komatsu is the 2nd largest worldwide manufacturer of construction, mining  and utility equipment, and also delivers forest machines and logistics.

Asset Management Supervisor

About the Role

As Asset Management Supervisor, you will be responsible to understand the value of Komatsu new/used machines, provide recommendation to the credit committee, assess request for residual value, monitor used equipment price and residual value risk in the leasing portfolio of Komatsu Finance in Europe/Africa in close cooperation between headquarter and the operations in the field. 

Key responsibilities

Asset valuation:

  • Acquire understanding of the Komatsu equipment in terms of customer use / application.
  • Build up knowledge on resale value of used Komatsu machines in the territories where Komatsu Finance operates/develops (France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands,
    Norway, Sweden, Ireland, UK, Africa).
  • Maintain value lines for Komatsu equipment in the different countries where Komatsu Finance operates.
  • Provide equipment valuation for equipment returning from default and/or end of contract.
    Build up knowledge of local add-ons in specific markets where Komatsu Finance operates and evaluate investment price of new finance request on ad-hoc basis.
  • Evaluate finance request of new/used equipment.
  • Support improvement/automation of asset gap assessment.

RV (‘Residual Value’) setting/monitoring:

  • Be the first line of contact for Komatsu Finance field staff to support RV evaluation by assessing equipment/application.
  • Issue recommendation to the credit committee in terms of asset risk.
  • Validate RV at new contract activation in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Implement and coordinate guarantee for RV risk sharing.
  • Review RV risk on new business (monthly) and portfolio level (yearly).
  • Review RV risk provision and issue proposal on quarterly basis.
  • Monitor internal residual value calculator versus used equipment market price trend.
  • Maintain RV calculation tool, review changes to tool, and communicate with relevant
  • Komatsu Finance sales staff in the field.

Asset monitoring:

  • Monitor use/condition/location of Komatsu equipment in the leasing portfolio through development of system-based tools.
  • Monitor actual use of equipment versus contractually agreed use.

Reporting:

  • Issue quarterly and yearly review timely.

Buy back commitments / risk share agreements:

  • Implement and follow up agreement for buy back commitments with Komatsu Europe and
    distributors.

Your Focus

Minimal formal degree: Bachelor or equivalent in experience

Key aspects

Of interest (general and Komatsu specific):

  • You demonstrate strong interest in construction/earthmoving equipment and curiosity for customer/equipment working environment.
  • An experience in remarketing (bank or leasing environment) is a plus.
  • You are willing to establish your network both internally and externally.

Of practical skills:

  • Command of English language (verbal and written) is a must
  • Any other European language is an asset.
    You are willing to travel occasionally on a need-to basis.

Of attitude:

  • You are rationale, curious, hands-on, unassuming, independent and willing to learn asset-based finance.
