Komatsu Europe Bundles High‑Density “Virtual Rover” Capability With Intelligent Machine Control Bulldozers to Accelerate Digital Construction

Komatsu Europe will be including high-density as-built data visualisation with the purchases of their intelligent Machine Control (iMC) bulldozers

Vilvoorde, January 2026 — Komatsu Europe International N.V. is taking a major step in accelerating digital transformation across the construction industry by bundling highdensity asbuilt data visualisation with every newly delivered Komatsu intelligent Machine Control (iMC) bulldozer. The new initiative gives contractors direct access to surveygrade jobsite information without requiring onsite surveyors, thanks to a complimentary oneyear “No Limits” license for Smart Construction Dashboard and its highdensity asbuilt module.

With this bundle, contractors can create unlimited job sites, upload unlimited data and connect their entire fleet of compatible Komatsu iMC and Smart Construction 3D Machine Guidance (3DMG) machines. This approach enables even firsttime digital users to begin benefiting from automated data capture, realtime progress monitoring and datadriven decisionmaking from the moment the machine arrives.

“Our digital twin technology is fundamentally changing the cost of operations,” says Bart Vingerhoets, Senior Commercial Manager at Komatsu Europe. “By tightening feedback cycles to a daily cadence, we enable customers to catch errors in real time. This drastically cuts rework and slashes expenditure on external services. In line with Komatsu’s goals, this next step isn’t just about reducing our carbon footprint; it’s about giving every customer the tools to boost productivity while keeping more of their budget inhouse.”

Turning Every iMC Bulldozer Into a HighPrecision Survey Instrument

As an iMC bulldozer grades, it automatically captures up to 25 topographic points per square metre — far exceeding the density collected during traditional periodic surveys. The result is a continuous stream of centimetreaccurate data that reflects the true, uptodate condition of the site. This information is transmitted directly to Smart Construction Dashboard, which reconstructs it into a highresolution 3D digital twin accessible to project teams.

Because the data is captured passively through normal machine operation, contractors avoid the interruptions and logistical challenges associated with manual surveys. Crucial errors, such as incorrect offsets or design mismatches, become visible immediately. This prevents costly downstream consequences, such as compacting material over incorrectly executed work — issues that might otherwise go unnoticed for days or weeks.

A More Efficient Way to Manage and Monitor Projects

The continuous asbuilt data stream reduces reliance on external surveyors for progress measurements and frees in-house surveying specialists to focus on more complex tasks. Project managers can remotely monitor jobsite progress, measure cutandfill volumes, analyse material movements and maintain confidence that execution remains aligned with the planned design, without physically visiting the site. This empowers contractors to plan with confidence, reduce risk, and improve budget predictability.

A Strategic Shift to Proactive, DataDriven Construction

Beyond improving individual workflows, this initiative pushes the industry toward a more proactive operating model. While advanced machinery has become common, many sites still rely on sporadic data collection and reactive problemsolving. By treating each iMC machine as a highfrequency data sensor, Komatsu enables contractors to maintain a continuously updated digital twin of their project. This realtime visibility helps teams anticipate issues earlier, allocate resources more effectively, and prepare for future advancements, including autonomous machine capabilities.
